National Football League responds to Antonio Brown's helmet greivance, won't budge

Antonio Brown wants to wear a trusty old helmet. The NFL says no. The wide receiver probably isn't going to win this battle NFL rumors: Patriots' Tom Brady gets involved in the NFL's helmet controversy | 'I'm dealing with it'

Brown has tried the new certified helmet out and believes it protrudes out and interferes with his vision as he tries to catch the football.

Brown, acquired by Oakland in a trade for a third- and a fifth-round pick in March from the Pittsburgh Steelers and promptly given a three-year, $50.125 million contract, had reportedly threatened to retire if he was not allowed to wear his helmet. Brown was one of 32 NFL players who wore nonapproved helmets last season and were told they would not be able to wear them this year under a program jointly administered by the league and the NFL Players Association. NOCSAE's rule has been that no helmets older than 10 years can be worn.

The search, thus far, has been unsuccessful, the unidentified PFT source said.

During this time, the Raiders have sent Brown multiple helmets that are approved by the National Football League, but none of them have been quite what he's looking for. Without mentioning Brown by name, McCarthy stated: "The player can't practice or play in games with equipment that's not approved. I'm excited about this season appreciate all the concerns about my feet!" "My last helmet, I wore in four Super Bowls, so it was a pretty great helmet for me, and I hated to put it on the shelf, but that was what they said to do, so I'm dealing with it and working with something else".

Gruden played it cool and played it perfectly on Saturday night, offering Brown full support on the helmet issue while absolving him of wrong doing as it relates to his odd foot injury. "As much as I loved that helmet, I knew some things were out of my control and that was one of them". We hope Antonio is back here soon because he's exciting to be around.
