Liverpool will be without Alisson for the "next few weeks"

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed @Alissonbecker will be sidelined for "the next few weeks" due to the calf injury he sustained on Friday.

"It's probably a bit more than a strain, we have to see, we have to make the diagnosis".

The Brazilian suffered the problem as he took a goal-kick, and will now miss their upcoming Super Cup match against Chelsea in Istanbul.

Free signing Adrian (32), who was released by West Ham at the end of last season, will deputise for Alisson while another free agent Andy Lonergan (35) has agreed terms on a short-term deal with the Reds having being part of Liverpool's squad during pre-season.

Frappart will nevertheless be happy to stay out of the limelight once the match at the Vodafone Park, home of Besiktas, kicks off, with Liverpool favourites against a Chelsea side reeling from their 4-0 defeat at Manchester United in their Premier League opener. I didn't speak to (goalkeeping coach) John Achterberg yet about that.

"He was in with us, he's a brilliant character, a really nice lad and helped us a lot in the pre-season, and now we (have) made a decision to work together with him".

"It's obviously unusual playing them overseas, but I think every game is different and we'll go out there with a desire to win".

Alisson's loss for an extended period would represent a blow to the club he joined from Roma in a £65million switch last summer.

"His experience is the main thing, he knows what he is doing".

The Brazil global was one of the few keepers who played every game of his team's league and European campaign last season.

'The situation was even more hard a few weeks ago because of injuries.

"Stay greedy. That's very important - I have no doubt about that, but it's clear that we have to do that", Klopp told UEFA.com when asked how his side could build on that success.
