'If he's good enough': Trump says he would 'love' Kaepernick NFL return 'If he's good enough': Trump says he would 'love' Kaepernick NFL return

While speaking to the media, Trump responded to questions about whether Kaepernick should be given another shot in the league when he hinted that the former San Francisco 49ers star turned activist simply isn't good enough to make it and that's why owners want no part of him. However, Trump quickly added a caveat: "only if he's good enough". That's the way Trump feels and definitely knows NFL owners like New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft would pick him up if he could help win his NFL team football games. Why wouldn't he play if he was good enough. They would sign him in a heartbeat. They will do anything they can to win games, so I'd like to see it.

After the protests saw a rise in 2017, President Trump spoke out against the demonstrations, suggesting that National Football League owners "fire" players who participated.

The number of players protesting the national anthem declined over the past couple years, with many transitioning from kneeling to remaining in the locker room. Asked during an impromptu news conference whether Kaepernick ought to be given a chance to play in the NFL, Trump offered a measured, politics-free response.

"If he's good enough, then sign him", Trump said about Kaepernick. "For 3 years. Still ready", Kaepernick posted.

Kaepernick released a video earlier this week saying: "5 a.m. 5 days a week". After Kaepernick's kneeling drew attention, the President called the demonstrations "unpatriotic" and used it to rally his base.

However, Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz has sustained season-ending injuries each of the past two seasons. Kaepernick was protesting racial injustice in America. San Francisco general manager John Lynch later confirmed (via Pro Football Talk) that the 49ers had meant to part ways with him either way. Reid, who played 13 games last season for the Panthers, signed a three-year contract with Carolina in February.

After becoming the oldest quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl previous year, he shows no signs of slowing down or moving aside for a replacement.
