Transfer: Arsenal to offer players plus cash for Wilfred Zaha

Zaha has been identified as Emery's primary target but we've struggling to agree terms for the Ivory Coast worldwide having seen our opening £40m bid rejected by Palace as it fell well short of their valuation.

Arsenal have been looking to land Zaha from the Eagles this summer and have already put in an offer of £40m to test the Selhurst Park water.

Arsenal have already seen a £40m offer for Zaha, who is now on global duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, knocked backed.

Arsenal's reported budget is widely reported to be only £40m - or £45m depending on which source you read - and the Daily Mirror recently claimed that the Gunners have offered Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers and Mohamed Elneny to Palace "in the hope it will act as a sweetener" in a deal for Zaha.

Chambers and Elneny have been linked with Palace in the past while Jenkinson would offer them a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back so fingers crossed they are open to this player plus cash deal as it would be an excellent piece of business if we could pull it off.

Crystal Palace are not willing to accept any player in exchange from Arsenal for Wilfried Zaha this summer.

Zaha, who grew up supporting Arsenal, is eager to make the move.

But the Sky Sports report adds that Palace have no interest in taking any players from the Gunners.

Earlier this month, Zaha's brother Judicael said: "Wilfried will always hold Crystal Palace and their fans in the highest regard".

Zaha, 26, is a boyhood Arsenal fan and is understood to be keen to play European football yet also remain in London.

However, with Arsenal struggling to convince Crystal Palace they have the means and the willingness to meet their valuation of the wide-man, no deal looks close to happening.

"It is my brother's dream, though, to play for Arsenal".
