"The Langley, British Columbia native was originally selected by the Bruins in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft".

The Boston Bruins came to an agreement with one of their three remaining key restricted free agents late Tuesday night as Danton Heinen agreed to a two-year extension and avoided arbitration.

Before his postseason run, the 6-foot-1 winger recorded 11 goals and 34 points in a regular season that saw him bounced around Boston's top-nine forward grouping, on both the left and right side.

He also had two goals and six assists in 24 playoff games last season for the Stanley Cup finalists.

The Canadian winger has 81 points in 162 National Hockey League games.

Avalanche-turned-Leaf forward Alex Kerfoot recently signed a four-year, $14 million ($3.5 million AAV) contract with Toronto, and has posted nearly identical numbers to Heinen to date.

The deal carries an average annual value of $2.8 million.

One down, two to go. The Bruins and their 24-year-old winger have set an August 3 date for the forward's potential arbitration hearing. That should be more than enough to bring back defensemen Brandon Carlo and Charlie McAvoy, who are both restricted free agents.
