The parents of Nicholas Immesberger, who died last December at age 24, filed the lawsuit saying their son had worked as a bartender at The Woods in Jupiter, Florida, and knew the golf star personally, the celebrity website reported.

Tiger Woods faces a lawsuit from the parents of a staffer at his Florida restaurant who died in a drink driving accident after allegedly being overserved alcohol, TMZ reported Monday.

The complaint filed in Palm Beach County by the family of Immesberger names Woods, his girlfriend, Erica Herman, who managed the establishment, and the restaurant itself as defendants.

The suit alleges employees knew Immesberger attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and had another alcohol-related crash in November.

"The employees and management at The Woods had direct knowledge that Immesberger had a habitual problem with alcohol", the lawsuit read.

DailyMail.com reached out to Woods' representatives but did not immediately receive a response. The suit, filed in Florida, claims Immesberger was overserved at the restaurant before getting into his auto to drive home.

Immesberger, who was 24 when he died on December 10, was a bartender at The Woods.

The lawsuit states Woods and Herman were drinking with Immesberger at the bar of The Woods "only a few nights before the fatal crash".

Immesberger lost control of his auto around 6 p.m. that night while driving home, swerved across three lanes and went airborne before landing in a grassy area on Federal Highway in Port Salerno, Florida, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The 43-year-old golfer was yet to comment on the lawsuit filed against him.

The lawsuit, which reportedly seeks "in excess of" $15,000, claims that Immesberger was over-served for multiple hours following his shift at The Woods. According to CNN, he was scheduled to be part of a tournament news conference Tuesday morning.

Woods, the 2019 Masters champion, is days away from teeing off at the PGA Championship. Woods is coming off his thrilling victory at the Masters last month, which led Donald Trump to present Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom last week.
