Jung Joon-young: K-pop star quits over secret sex videos

This information comes after Seungri, of Big Bang fame, quit the industry earlier this week following the emergence of his role as a board member of a prostitution ring at the Burning Sun nightclub in Seoul.

Jung Joon Young announced that as a result of these shocking allegations, he would step down from the music industry for good.

Less than an hour after Seungri's departure, singer Jung Joon-young emerged from the police agency office after an 21-hour interrogation.

According to The Guardian, Seungri of boyband BigBang, is being accused of supplying prostitutes to the investors he works with.

In a post on his personal Instagram account, he revealed: "As this scandal is too big, I have made a decision to retire". "I will take all the punishment for my crime".

Singer Lee Seung-hyun, 28, better known by the stage name Seungri, is suspected of paying for prostitutes for foreign businessmen to drum up investment in his business.

He also said that he had been branded as a "national traitor", and added that he "cannot stand the fact that I'm harming others for my own sake".

Seungri has been engaged in diverse business ventures, including a ramen franchise and a dance academy, and enjoyed displaying his lavish lifestyle.

Yong Jun-hyung, 29, of the boy band Highlight, apologized for his actions after admitting to watching a sex video which had been illegally filmed and uploaded onto a chatroom by fellow pop star and friend Jung Joon-young.

According to the K-pop website, an SBS broadcast revealed what it said were screenshots of the alleged chat room that the celebrities were participants of. "Jung Joon Young told me that he got caught after sending illegal video footage to someone, and I responded, 'You got caught by her?'" Yong recounted in his Instagram statement.

A series of recent scandals has exposed the dark side of South Korea's booming yet ultra-competitive entertainment industry. He is also barred from leaving the country. Seungri is set to start his mandatory military service on March 25.

"I am withdrawing from all the programs that I was appearing on, and I will suspend all activities in the entertainment industry".

The stock price of YG Entertainment, Big Bang's agency, plunged this week over the allegations surrounding Seungri, dropping more than 17 per cent on Monday and Tuesday before rebounding slightly on Wednesday after the company announced it was releasing the singer. Jung has already been dropped from his label and will be edited out of the television show 2 Days & 1 Night.

The K-Pop star continued: "More than anything, I kneel and apologise to the women who appear in the videos who have learned of this ugly truth as the incident has come to light".

Yong claimed he fully cooperated with the investigation, and continued to voice his shame over his "conversations" over the hidden camera footage (however, he did not admit to participating in a social media chatroom).
