In a major blow to Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, police in Kolkata on Thursday filed a chargesheet against him under IPC 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment). As per ANI, a chargesheet has been filed in Alipore police court against Shami under IPC 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment). Jahan had taken to social media to post screenshots of Shami's alleged affairs with other women. Shami's brother Haseeb Ahmed has also been named in the chargesheet under the same sections. "The case will begin in a month", a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said. Frustrated by her failed attempts to reconcile with Shami, Hasin had resumed her modelling career in July past year.

The allegations leveled by Hasin forced the BCCI to omit Shami from the central contracts list pending investigations. However, he was later given a clean chit and has been given a Grade A contract this year.

The pacer was first stripped of a contract by the BCCI.

A model by profession, Jahan had made headlines earlier in March past year when she alleged that her husband, Shami, had abused her physically and mentally and was involved in several extra-marital affairs. In her complaint, she had accused Shami of torture, physical abuse and mental harassment.

Shami, who picked up five wickets in four matches in recently-concluded ODI series against Australia, will be participating in the Indian Premier League from next week with Kings XI Punjab.
