She uploaded a photo of her outfit, which shows her wearing high waisted orange pants and a black strappy crop top.

The airline, Thomas Cook, has since apologised for the way it handled the incident, although appeared to fall short of specifically declaring whether her outfit fell foul of company policy.

"The staff said nothing to him", she wrote.

A woman says she was forced to cover up her "inappropriate" outfit on a flight. Her humiliation was intensified, she said, when someone from the airline made comments over the speaker about the situation.

Her cousin ultimately gave her a jacket to wear, but flight staff did not leave until she "psychically put it on".

She went on to reveal that she was insulted by a passenger who told her to put on a jacket.

Emily has since described the incident as "the worst experience of my life". The crew did nothing in response, she said.

O'Connor told The Sun that her cousin had a jacket that she put on to make her flight. She did not immediately respond to a message from The Post requesting comment. I wish I didn't need to wear a bra with a crop top!

"I don't want to criticise you Emily, but we live in a world today where we get all these sexy selfies, I think we need to wake up and wise up about the fact that you are demeaning what we've been trying to fight for".

"We are sorry that we upset Ms O'Connor".

Thomas Cook has since apologised to Miss O'Connor, saying they "could have handled the situation better".

In a statement to The Post Wednesday, a spokesman for the airline said Thomas Cooks's cabin services director spoke with O'Connor personally to offer an apology.

The spokesperson added that Thomas Cook has "an appropriate clothing policy" similar to most airlines which "applies equally to men and women of all ages without discrimination". A man then shouted 'Shut up you pathetic woman. "Our crews have the hard task of implementing that policy and don't always get it right".

She took to Twitter and received support from many, and her following poll found that 86 per cent agreed it was "appropriate flying wear".

The airline noted that its policy, available in the inflight magazine, states customers wearing "inappropriate attire (including items with offensive slogans or images) will not be permitted to travel unless a change of clothes is possible".
