Giannulli posted bond, also $1 million, and was released on the same day.

Apparently, the Desperate Housewives alum knew that the arrest was looming and would have surrendered on her own if the events of this morning hadn't gone down.

Loughlin's arrest comes after she openly admitted her girls were feeling pressured academically.

More than 30 parents are accused of paying bribes, including well-known actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Laughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli.

Loughlin and fellow actress Felicity Huffman headline the list of some 50 people charged in documents unveiled in Boston that describe a scheme to cheat the admissions process at eight sought-after schools.

Court documents said that the couple "agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team-despite the fact that they did not participate in crew-thereby facilitating their admission to USC", People magazine reported.

Full House actress Lori Loughlin was taken into custody in the U.S. on Wednesday (Thursday NZT) in a sweeping college admissions corruption scandal. Prosecutors alleged she met with a confidential witness who explained that he could control an SAT testing center and could arrange for someone to proctor her daughter's test and correct it.

The Los Angeles judge ruled Ms Loughlin could continue travelling to and from the Canadian province of British Columbia for a number of productions she is working on as long as she notifies United States authorities in advance of each trip.

When it comes to the massive college admissions scandal, the takedown of which was dubbed "Operation Varsity Blues" by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, its celebrity clientele have dominated the news cycle.

William "Rick" Singer, front, founder of the Edge College & Career Network, exits federal court in Boston on March 12, 2019.

Court documents allege that Felicity Huffman, 53, paid $15,000 to secure her eldest daughter a place at university.

In particular, the coaches worked at such schools as Yale, Stanford, Georgetown, Wake Forest, the University of Texas, the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles, faking profiles of the applicants, regardless of their actual abilities in sports.

The alleged masterminds of the scam and the parents who paid into it could all face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

"Mostly my parents really wanted me to go, because both of them didn't go to college", she said.

Ms Huffman was one of several charged who appeared in court on Tuesday before being released on bail.

"Every student deserves to be considered on their individual merits when applying to college, and it's disgraceful to see anyone breaking the law to give their children an advantage over others", US Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said in a statement Wednesday.
