Season 8 of Game of Thrones is nearly upon us and whilst we have heard various rumoured runtimes for Season 8, as yet we had received no official confirmation of this.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres on April 14. Apparently, an HBO executive claimed that the first two episodes ran for about an hour, while the final four hovered closer to the eighty-minute mark.

Games of Thrones is about to embark on its last leg with the final season premiering on April 14.

Winter is here and the eighth season of Game of Thrones is coming soon - but when the final chapter arrives on HBO, it won't make quite as big a splash as everyone had anticipated.

Game of Thrones making: Here’s how the White Walkers came to life

If you were looking for an epically long first two "Game of Thrones" episodes, then this news might leave you a little bit crestfallen. Each one is just about the same length as The Dragon and the Wolf, which is now the longest episode to date, and the runtimes of the three together effectively means an extra episode in Season 8.

Our anticipation for the final season has reached fever pitch. But when you have a series with such a large community of fans, it is very hard to please everyone, as D.B. Weiss and David Benioff told EW. Game of Thrones has always been at its best when it's slicing through storylines efficiently instead of letting added unnecessary bloat drag the rest of its story down (examples: the whole "Reek" subplot, and Arya's training at the House of Black and White), so hopefully we'll see more of that efficiency put to use as the board is set for The Wars to Come. What do you think is going to happen? Let us know in the comments! Similarly, toggle further down and you'll find that episode two is 58 minutes long.

The runtimes for Season 8 get progressively longer as the season unfolds, but is not uncommon for Game of Thrones.
