PSG's Cavani doubtful for Man United game

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel is "worried" star striker Edinson Cavani could miss Tuesday's Champions League clash with Manchester United after limping off against Bordeaux.

PSG are 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 thanks to their 1-0 win over Bordeaux, but Buffon was not impressed with their display and insists they must improve against the Red Devils.

PSG visit Old Trafford on Tuesday for the first leg of their encounter in the round-of-16, the stage at which the French champions went out in the last two seasons. He left the pitch moments later and was replaced by Kylian Mbappe at half-time.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel said: "Not good news. We don't have a second "Edi", Tuchel told Canal+, but he later insisted that he did have solutions in mind if needed. "For the big games in the Champions League, it is absolutely necessary to have key players with a lot of experience".

When questioned about Cavani's chances of playing at Old Trafford, Tuchel replied: "A little hope, very small, but yes, we still have hope".

He was in attendance at Saturday's game, which saw Marco Verratti make his return to action after three weeks out with an ankle injury.

"It's super hard. If we miss several players the challenge will be even bigger".

"I do not know [if he will be fit]".

Such is their margin for error domestically that Tuchel could afford to wrap a host of key players in cotton wool with the Champions League in mind.

With Edinson Cavani picking up an injury against Bordeaux, the FC panel examine how PSG would line up if he's ruled out against Manchester United.

"We gave them the first 10 minutes, maybe played into their hands".

"If he comes off, obviously I am anxious". Verratti played nearly an hour before being substituted by Leandro Paredes.
