USA: Tulsi Gabbard kicks off presidential campaign USA: Tulsi Gabbard kicks off presidential campaign

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-H.I.) officially kicked off her campaign for president on Saturday.

Gabbard is an interesting case, because she does have some foreign policy objectives that align with Russia, so it would make sense that a candidate who is known as an Assad apologist is seeing favorable tweets and headlines from some sort of Russian apparatus.

She is one of the first two female combat veterans to ever serve in the U.S. Congress, and also its first Hindu member.

Gabbard, a former Hawaii National Guard member, announced her intention to seek the presidency on February 2 during a rally on Oahu, Hawaii.

"Join me in putting this spirit of service above self at the forefront and stand up against the forces of greed and corruption", she said, according to Reuters.

Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who's running for president in 2020, on Wednesday doubled-down on her opposition to the USA intervention in Syria, but also likely provided ammunition to critics of her foreign policy stance.

To reduce Gabbard to some kind of Russian stooge, as NBC did, would mean buying into the idea that it's implausible for someone who has seen war close up to want to avoid it if other alternatives exist. If the simple understanding is that the Russian government, which worked to elect Trump in 2016, would like him to win in 2020, Russia will likely seize on any candidate that can help put a wrench in the primary process. She launched her White House campaign at a rally in her home state of Hawaii over the weekend.

Gabbard appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Wednesday. Her fact-finding meeting with Assad may have provided the information she needed to present her constituents with a more complete assessment of the situation. She had to apologise for her past anti-LGBTQ activities.

The ex-KKK Grand Wizard previously endorsed Donald trump during his 2016 presidential campaign. She has made veterans issues a priority while in Congress.

In the early 2000s, Gabbard touted working for her father's anti-gay organization, which sought to pass a measure against same-sex marriage in her state and promoted controversial conversion therapy.

In the spring of 2017, Gabbard said she had stopped accepting defense industry money. She encouraged Trump and congressional Republicans to pull US military forces out of Syria. In other words, Morgan used his own fake Russian accounts to lie to the public and deceive the national media into believing that Kremlin-linked accounts were trying to defeat the Democratic Senate candidate when, in fact, the accounts he was citing were ones he himself had fabricated and controlled.
