Zola and Hazard predict Higuain will be a big success at Chelsea

Gianfranco Zola has urged new Chelsea signing Gonzalo Higuain to "understand" the Premier League in order to make a quick adaptation to English football.

"He's played for big clubs: Real Madrid, Juventus, Napoli".

"See you Sunday", Higuain said as he was presented at Stamford Bridge prior to the Spurs fixture, which Chelsea won on penalties.

"I like playing with Giroud and Morata, but when Olivier is playing he is doing his best for the side, he is more of a team player than a striker that just scores goals".

"I think he can do the same here".

"I do wonder if the Premier League is the place for a striker like Higuain, who is 31 and has only scored once since October". I think that for a long-term contract, he has to do very well.

After spending the first half of the season in a disappointing loan spell at Milan, Higuain said he was keen to move to Stamford Bridge. "I was a very positive player, I liked to move around the pitch, find the spots on the pitch where I could receive the ball, turn and make the damage to the opposition. Maybe I have to show more in training to be back in the team".

Higuain scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A matches at Napoli in 2015-16, when Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri was manager, while Jorginho is a former team-mate.

Giroud was handed a rare start against Spurs, with head coach Maurizio Sarri having favoured Eden Hazard as a "false nine" in recent matches, and the France worldwide told ESPN FC he had found it hard to accept his lack of game time.

Sarri believes he can get the best out of Higuain once again, though, and has been in desperate need of a top No.9.

"Gonzalo was in a situation that we could try to buy him, so we made a decision to try". It's important that you react in that way.

N'Golo Kante is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, having steered both Leicester City and Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first two years in England, before adding FA Cup and World Cup winners medals to his collection in 2018. I said only that we had a problem. "It's a benefit for the team and competition is always good for strikers, so we will try to step up together to help the team reach our target".
