On Thursday, Gov. DeSantis said he's giving state lawmakers until mid-March to reform or rewrite Florida's law on medical marijuana.

"People have told me that, yeah", DeSantis said and burst out laughing, clapping Morgan on the back.

DeSantis said at a press conference in Winter Park that he would be willing to abandon multiple lawsuits that have limited patients access to medical marijuana.

Last May, a judge ruled that approved patients can smoke medical marijuana. "They think there's been a lot of foot-dragging". Are you listening, legislators? This was not an amendment that was really that close.

The governor set a deadline of mid-March for lawmakers to introduce a bill that would ease the ban on smoking medical marijuana, saying he will ask the court for a "stay of decision" on the state's appeal until then.

DeSantis claimed that the state of Florida will not be conducting business with any organization promoting discrimination led by the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS).

"Governor DeSantis has indicated that he prefers a legislative solution rather than a judicial order to bring the issue of implementation of the amendment to a conclusion", said Senate President Bill Galvano. Many Senators share these concerns and have ideas they are interested in advancing, which include forms of treatment. "We look forward to collaborating on new and continuing initiatives with our new state leadership".

"We thank Gov. DeSantis for his strong leadership in opposing the bigotry and antisemitism of the BDS Movement".

The Legislature held a special session in 2017 and passed the law that included the smoking ban and limits on licenses.

The state argued the amendment didn't stipulate that smoking had to be permitted. Supporters said, for example, that the smoking ban was needed because of health dangers from smoking. She has been lobbying in favor of medical marijuana for many years. He points to the section of the amendment that says smoking would not be permitted in public places. Morgan said, for the time being, he won't be pushing the issue.

"Every day that medical marijuana in the pure plant form is unavailable to patients, Floridians continue to suffer", Fried said.

Medical marijuana advocates agree, but only if the change actually happens.

"They voted for medical marijuana".

"Flowers would become one of the top-selling products overnight", Bax wrote.

The Governor likens the current seed to sale structure to a drug cartel. "Without legal edibles yet, this percentage could be significantly larger in Florida".

Smoking will present other challenges for the state. It will be more hard for an officer to decide whether a cannabis flower is legal or a black-market product.
