The Cleveland Cavaliers are now under investigation by the National Basketball Association at the request of the Golden State Warriors, who had former restricted free agent Patrick McCaw snatched from their very hands after failing to match a two-year, $6 million offer for his services.

It looks like Patrick McCaw is heading to the Toronto Raptors.

On Tuesday, the Warriors reportedly asked the National Basketball Association to review the Cavs' signing and quick release of McCaw.

The Cavs waived McCaw after less than a week with the team, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Warriors didn't match the offer, making McCaw a member of the Cavs. Teams often either promote their two-way players to a full National Basketball Association contract (there is no obligation to keep both G League two-way spots full) or target an unrestricted free agent to keep for the short term.

If the Cavs and McCaw arranged to waive McCaw before the contract was official, it would be a violation of league rules and could result in some dire consequences.Namely, the Cavs could be fined and be lose their first-round pick.

McCaw will go from the worst team in the Eastern Conference to the top team, although he won't face the Warriors this season - unless it's in the NBA Finals.

Also at 2 p.m. PT on Wednesday, multiple national reports stated that McCaw plans to sign with the Toronto Raptors. They were able to get McCaw for a minimum salary for the remainder of the season, a signing that would have earned them many accolades if it happened during the summer.

McCaw appeared in three games for the Cavs and averaged 17.7 minutes, 1.7 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.
