Oscars 2019: Kevin Hart says he definitely won't return as host

"I might get a lot of blowback for that, but I'm just being honest". When host Michael Strahan asked if he would return to host the Oscars if asked, the comedian responded with a strong denial.

When Strahan inquired as to how the controversy has changed Hart, the Upside actor replied, "I have explained how I've evolved, which makes me say I'm over it".

Hart apologized in December for "insensitive words from my past" and told DeGeneres last week in an interview on her talk show that he does not "have a homophobic bone in my body".

"I will say this, and I want to make this very clear", he said. The Academy eventually declared they would welcome him back with open arms. Whether I like it or not, whether you like it or not, that is his right. "In the future, if it does, it does". Hart says, "I'm just done".

"I have an understanding that I've addressed it and I've said everything that I can possibly say. I apologize", he said on the show. "There's no more conversation about it". I'm over the moment. If it's accepted, great. "I'm over it. That's where I personally am". I'm not saying what I've done and what the new me is.

"I'm not giving no more explanation of who I am", he added.

Hart later came to her defense, saying: 'When did we get to the point where we forgot that we all learn, then we all have the ability to grow and with that growth comes a wealth of knowledge.

"So then we say, 'Hey, man, as a group, let's erase this shit, '" he continued. "If it's not, there's nothing I can do".

As for whether he'll host this year's Oscars after all, Hart gave a definitive "no" for the first time.

Earlier this week on his Sirius XM show "Straight from the Hart" program, he again apologized to the LGBTQ community.

Thoughts, Perezcious readers? Are we collectively letting go of this controversy, or does Kevin need to prove he's honest in his apology just a bit more?

'I am not over-delivering it, I am not overproving it because you find yourself in a position where it still won't be received and you go, "What else do you want?" This is wrong now.

He said that he acknowledges the hurt that those words caused now that he has gotten to know LGBTQ people.

However, he has now ruled that out, telling Good Morning America he doesn't have time.

"The Academy never really axed him - they wanted him to apologize - he wouldn't, and then he was the one to drop out", the source said.

During his hit on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Hart notably did not apologize and drew ire from many who noted that he was playing the victim card. "It's all they ever wanted him to do, and he's doing it in spades".
