"Our technical teams are working on the issue with high priority".

Customers on other mobile networks such as Sky, Tesco and Giffgaff have also been affected by the problem because their networks use O2 services.

The service was still down for many users at the time of writing and O2 said that it was working to fix the issue "as quickly as possible".

O2 has confirmed problems with mobile data across its network this morning (Thursday, December 6, 2018).

Customers of O2, GiffGaff and virtual operators who use Telefonica's network in the United Kingdom have been hit by a spectacular outage across the country.

O2 said: "Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when using data".

"We'd encourage our customers to use Wifi wherever they can and we apologise for the inconvenience caused". The outage tool - which allows customers to check if their area is affected - was also down.

In addition, London Bus timetables rely on O2's coverage, meaning that these were also down this morning. "This issue is being investigated".

Lots of people have been left without data roaming and found themselves unable to access the internet on their devices. "Our technical teams are working extremely hard to resolve this", the company said.

O2 said it would share further updates as soon as they were available.

It's encouraging users to "use Wi-Fi wherever they can".
