Man City risked Champions League expulsion in 2014 if a UEFA club finance panel had found it had severely breached "Financial Fair Play" rules, created to curb overspending on player costs.

German magazine Der Spiegel released a number of stories based on so-called Football Leaks data alleging City had avoided UEFA's FFP regulations.

Der Spiegel also reported last Friday that Man City threatened to destroy UEFA with legal action before reaching a 2014 settlement to forfeit 20 million euros ($22.8 million) in prize money.

Asked about the "Football leaks" documents, which have been published widely in the media, Guardiola told reporters on Tuesday ahead of City's Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk that he had faith in the club.

"Of course, like many, many clubs around the world they have a lot of money, but they are also an incredible club". Without good players we can not do that.

"If people say it's just about money we accept it, but that point of view is completely wrong."

"We work a lot on our defensive organization".

Guardiola added that he trusted the club to follow the regulations in all competitions.

City have not commented on the stream of claims, which are to continue for two more days, beyond referring to a statement they issued last week in which the Abu Dhabi-owned club said it would "not be providing any comment on out of context materials purported to have been hacked or stolen from City Football Group and Manchester City personnel and associated people".

FFP was announced by UEFA in 2010, set to come into force for the 2013/14 season, with clubs threatened with sanctions, including potential Champions League expulsion if they failed to comply.

"The reality is that we concede too many goals, and the way that we concede them shows our weaknesses". I am focussed on what happened on the pitch, in the locker room. I'm completely out of how we handle this situation.

In the latest allegations to plunge City into turmoil, it is alleged a risk analysis regarding a possible deal with Arabtec was carried out by executives but that, despite the report concluding a partnership with the company would have "significant potential to damage the perception and standing of the club and its owners", the club struck an agreement regardless, signing a regional contract that would be publicised only in Arab states, Russian Federation and Turkey, where there was considered to be less risk of condemnation.

"We certainly hope Uefa will take the right decisions and enforce Financial Fair Play rules, but we don't have full confidence that they will".

"In terms of undermining what we have done or not, opinions are free in those terms".
