Blizzard Pulled Diablo 4 Announcement From BlizzCon

Diablo 2 Remastered May Be Announced at Blizz Con 2018 Report Blizzard president on Diablo Immortal: "We want awesome mobile games and we think this could be one of them”
Melba Vasquez | 08 November, 2018, 10:27

In another interview with Digital Trends, Allen Adham commented that Blizzard has not forgotten about the core Diablo fans.

Blizzard don't deny the video exists but they do deny that the video was going to be show at Blizzcon after the reveal of Diablo Immortal, which is what Kotaku originally claimed.

But rather than remain a celebration of Blizzard's IPs and community, BlizzCon 2018 quickly devolved into a source of frustration for people disappointed by the announcement of Diablo Immortal, a free-to-play game exclusive to mobile platforms.

Since then, Blizzard has processed the fan reaction and backlash, and have responded to it via an interview with Kotaku. As it stands Blizzard has not officially confirmed the existence of a full Diablo sequel for PC now in development.

So, upon the unexpected announcement of Diablo Immortal, fans lost their collective shit.

The release of BlizzCon 2018's panel schedule added more speculation, as Diablo was given the first panel slot on the main stage, having fans think that would lead to a big announcement.

Instead, previously mentioned Diablo Immortal took the limelight, leaving many wondering where the hell III's long-awaited sequel is. Less so in the West, but we're now starting to see some games that are bringing that mechanic to the West.

We don't have an exact release date aside from 2019 but you can pre-order the game along with a WoW Meat Wagon mount and a Hearthstone card back if that's your sort of thing.

As usual, the developer had a variety of announcements revolving around their games as well as some of their partner games.

Riffing on that comment, a thread with almost 4000 upvotes reads, "Everyone is saying that Blizzard is out touch with their fans".

Blizzard has since sounded off on the matter, which we'll report in a later story.

The key evidence though remains the Blizzard blog post from October 17, which, in so many words, seems to warn that Diablo 4 would not be at Blizzcon.

We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that "good things come to those who wait", but evil things often take longer. One of them is the game that fans are waiting for, and it was almost announced last week.

Are You Excited for Diablo Immortal?

But, looking at the bright side, the video published by Blizzard some time ago claims new discoveries until the end of the year.
