A 'Breaking Bad' movie is in the works

Rumoured Breaking Bad Movie Is Probably Happening Breaking Bad Movie in the Works From Creator Vince Gilligan

Fans of AMC's hit show Breaking Bad were sent into a frenzy after the announcement that the series would be getting the movie treatment, with creator Vince Gilligan now working on a film.

That immediately led to speculation it'd be centred on Jesse, and Slash Film are now reporting they've confirmed that is indeed the case, with Aaron Paul set to reprise his most famous role.

Details on the project, which has been floating around the industry with a possible fake/working title of Greenbrier, are slim. After all, the series axed not only main character and driving force Walter White, but also his chief pursuant (and loving brother-in-law) Hank Schrader, primary villain Gus Fring, and everyone's favorite iron-fisted curmudgeon Mike Ehrmantraut.

The Emmy Award-winning series was set and filmed in Albuquerque for six years.

A Breaking Bad movie is in the works.

"We are happy to welcome "Greenbrier" and Sony Studios to New Mexico", said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. Better Call Saul's next season will be its fifth, and that will probably be its last, because it just doesn't seem right that the spinoff would run for longer than the original, which ran for five seasons.

A movie, either theatrical or for TV, has always been considered a possibility. Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, who executive produced Breaking Bad and its spin-off series Better Call Saul, are also on board.

A Breaking Bad movie (of any sort) would be a boon for Sony TV, which, as an independent studio, has been fighting an uphill battle in an era when ownership has become increasingly important.

Additionally, via TheWrap, Bryan Cranston confirmed that the Breaking Bad film is in production on The Dan Patrick Show.

For now, though, Cranston is saying that he hasn't read the script and hasn't been officially asked to appear, but he would.

But Cranston did say that Gilligan had given him a heads-up on the project.

After Breaking Bad shot to fame, producers were quick to send a green signal to Better Call Saul as Gilligan's series.

It's still not known whether it will be shown in cinemas or aired on television.
