Kasper Schmeichel said he was proud to be a part of the Leicester "family" after the club rallied to a victory in their first match since the death of owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The 60-year-old Thai billionaire died on October 27 with four others when his helicopter crashed next to Leicester's King Power Stadium.

Fans wore T-shirts with Vichai's picture on it, underneath the words "The Boss".

Schmeichel said he was "shaking" in the warm-up at Cardiff and he was clearly emotional as the Leicester playing squad and staff stood around the centre circle before kick-off to observe a minute's silence.

Srivaddhanaprabha bought the club for $57 million in 2010 and it was promoted to the Premier League in 2014.

Gray struck a 55th-minute victor on an emotional afternoon in Cardiff and marked it by removing his top and revealing an undershirt with the words "For Khun Vichai" on it.

Gray scored the solitary goal in the 55th minute and celebrated by taking off his shirt and revealing the message underneath, with official Lee Probert showing him a yellow card as a result.

"That took a lot, so proud of how everyone played today, how professional everyone was".

Asked if he could have just turned around and pretended not to have seen it, Walton said: "Yes, but then he'd have to explain his actions on Monday morning and he probably didn't want to do that". I haven't really known a feeling like it on the pitch.

"I said it is impossible to play worse than we did so the second half will be better for sure".

A minute's silence was impeccably observed, with a wreath laid on the pitch and images of Vichai shown on the scoreboards behind either goal.

The Leicester fans sang Vichai's name for the rest of a highly charged afternoon and, at the final whistle, the visiting players came together to embrace.

Leicester captain Wes Morgan says the players felt under pressure before the game, but were fully committed to picking up maximum points for their late owner. It's what Vichai would have wanted and that's what we are going to do.

TV requirements saw Saturday's games staggered over four separate kickoff times with Manchester United recovering to win 2-1 at Bournemouth in the early match to move up to seventh.

Goals from Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane appeared to put Tottenham in an unassailable position at Wolverhampton.

They left England for Bangkok after an emotional 1-0 win over Cardiff in their first game after the crash that killed two others passengers and two pilots.
