Two people are dead after a building collapse late Friday at an Amazon distribution warehouse in Baltimore, according to fire officials.

In Baltimore City, the fire department said damage to the Amazon warehouse involved a section of an outer wall measuring about 50 feet by 50 feet that collapsed. Both people were third party contractors and not Amazon employees.

Amazon employee Brandon McBride, who was at the warehouse at the time of the wall collapse, told 11 News that "It just sounded like bombs were dropping everywhere" and said that 'There was stuff falling everywhere, you could see the walls were caving in'.

One of the two men was found under debris and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported by Amazon.

Amazon released a statement on Saturday and said that the building would remain closed until further notice.

Fire officials responded to a call about a potential collapse of the Amazon Fulfillment Center building at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night.

It took rescue crews all night to find the second victim after searching through piles of concrete.

'We are incredibly thankful for the quick response from emergency services. "Our thoughts go out to all families impacted by this evening's severe weather".

The tornado briefly lifted before touching down again at an apartment complex in Dundalk.
