Red Dead Redemption 2 made $725 million over the weekend

FIFA 19 tops Red Dead Redemption 2 as fastest selling UK game in 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2 pulls in a massive $725 million in opening weekend

Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be ideal, but its minor shortcomings are like tiny blemishes on a stunningly handsome face. On top of this, the game has also set a number of additional benchmarks including being the biggest day one release for a full game in the history of PlayStation Network, the biggest first three days ever for a full game on PlayStation Network, and most pre-ordered full game to ever hit PlayStation Network. But how do you tell the time?

While it has yet to beat the yearly colossal success of EA's Federation Internationale de Football Association series, Red Dead Redemption 2 has already become the second-biggest launch of 2018.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is now the highest critically reviewed game on the PlayStation 4, with an average score of 97 on Metacritic, and the top game on Xbox One, also with an average score of 97 on Metacritic.

A couple of items for the main game and its online component, Red Dead Online, will be available on Sony's console 30 days before they arrive on Xbox One.

Additionally, PS4 players will have early access to a special horse and gun in Red Dead Online: the Red Chestnut Arabian Horse-which comes outfitted with the health- and stamina-boosting Alligator Skin Ranch Cutter Saddle-and the High Roller Double Action Revolver.

Given the success of GTA Online, Red Dead Online will likely boost revenue from the title even further.

But here's the funniest part of all of this: selling the game isn't the big part of where Rockstar will make its money on Red Dead Redemption 2.
