Theresa May to Raise Khashoggi Killing With Saudi King Salman Theresa May to Raise Khashoggi Killing With Saudi King Salman

In opposition to the Saudi account of events, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that Khashoggi's death was a "premeditated murder".

In his comments to the Wall Street Journal, Trump said he wanted to believe Prince Mohammed when he said lower level officials were to blame for Khashoggi's death.

Saudi Arabia has faced intense global pressure as Turkey continues to release details of its investigation of what happened after Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Despite Turkish authorities claims of having evidence of his brutal killing inside the consulate, the Saudi government for weeks, denied and claimed he had left the Consulate.

As the Saudi public prosecutor made the new admission on Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Riyadh still needed to provide answers to remaining questions, such as who ordered the hit and what happened to Khashoggi's body.

While the Saudi prosecutor's office did not say specifically that its investigators reached the same conclusion, the statement seemed created to acknowledge the legitimacy of evidence and allegations from Turkey that Khashoggi's killing was planned.

"She strongly urged Saudi Arabia to cooperate with the Turkish investigation and to be transparent about the results".

Turkish pro-government media reported Wednesday that Turkish intelligence had shared "all the evidence" from its probe with the CIA. In the call, Merkel condemned Khashoggi's killing at the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul "in the sharpest possible manner".

For their part, the Trump administration and the US defence industry are scrambling to save the few actual deals in a much-touted $110 billion arms package for Saudi Arabia.

"I want to send them a message that they can not do this as long as there a king named Salman bin Abdulaziz and a crown prince named Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, and a president in Turkey named Erdogan".

Only on Saturday, Riyadh admitted that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate during a fistfight with Saudi officials who tried to convince him to return to Riyadh. Turkish reports said a member of his entourage was involved in the crime.

"We are making very clear that the United States does not tolerate this kind of action to silence Mr Khashoggi, a journalist, through violence", US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

"There are many inconsistencies and lies in what Saudi Arabia says, even a child will not trust them".

The seemingly clumsy cover-up of the killing was revealed to the world by Turkish leaks of information, security camera footage and, eventually, Saudi acknowledgements that Khashoggi died in the consulate.

Meanwhile, the crown prince has attended the first meeting of a committee aiming to restructure the kingdom's intelligence services after the killing of Mr Khashoggi.

Discussions about the "situation" in Lebanon will reportedly be held in Saudi Arabia in the "next hours" in parallel with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri's presence in the Kingdom, al-Joumhouria daily said on Thursday.

Reports of a grizzly torture and dismemberment have surfaced, and that parts of Khashoggi's body were found in a garden behind the consulate where he was murdered.
