Major League Baseball investigating Houston Astros' photographer during ALCS vs. Boston Red Sox

Houston Astros Employee Accused Of Suspicious Activity During Game 1 vs. Red Sox Major League Baseball investigating Houston Astros' photographer during ALCS vs. Boston Red Sox

In the third inning of the first game of the series, security removed a man claiming to be an Astros employee from the media-credentialed area next to the Boston Red Sox dugout, according to multiple security sources who were on the scene at the time of the incident. The Indians have filed a complaint with the Major League Baseball about the Astros over an incident of suspected cheating during Game 3 of the ALDS.

Sherman reported that the man involved in the incident was an Astros employee, but additionally reported that he had been monitoring the dugout to see if Boston was improperly using a video monitor.

The report from Metro brought back memories of a report from ESPN's Buster Olney, who said the Red Sox think the Astros are great a stealing signs and adjusted their chain of communication accordingly.

"But every once in a while - and there have been multiple instances of us identifying suspicious activity - we reported it to Major League Baseball and we looked into it ourselves on certain cases and certain instances".

The teams play again at 8:39 p.m. ET Wednesday in Game 4 in Houston. "We consider the matter closed". Picard's initial report even indicates that McLaughlin wasn't removed from the stadium - only the media area in which he'd been set up. The man was not allowed back into the credentialed area, but was allowed to remain in the ballpark.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who served as bench coach for the Astros last season, also addressed the topic.

The inquiry began when the general manager of the second-place New York Yankees, Brian Cashman, filed a complaint with the commissioner's office a few weeks ago, including video from the teams' three-game series in August that allegedly depicted a member of the first-place Red Sox training staff looking at his Apple Watch and relaying messages to players, according to the New York Times.

If anything, the series of reports serves as a reminder and/or an eye-opener that most, if not all teams throughout the league are willing to push the boundaries and utilize technology in an effort to gain a competitive edge.

The Red Sox had been warned before their series-opening game, the AP was told. "If we feel there's something going on, we change the signs". And we don't get caught up in the whole paranoia thing [with] the signs.
