Caroline Wozniacki wins second China Open title

Caroline Wozniacki Beijing 2018 Naomi Osaka 'stressed out' by living up to US Open win

Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, seeded second, defeated Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday to win the China Open title, eight years after achieving it for the first time.

The 20th-ranked Latvian will face Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the final.

The first set started very close, while Sevastova managed to break the serve to the US Open champion to have a 4-3 lead, allowing her to gain confidence, reports Efe news.

And the world number 20 saw out the set in resounding fashion with an ace out wide, before carrying her momentum into the second with a break for 3-2 as Osaka erred on the forehand side.

Naomi Osaka admitted that she gets "stressed out" trying to live up to "the hype" after the US Open champion was beaten in the China Open semi-finals on Saturday. Asked at the post-match press conference, where she again looked unhappy, why she had had tears in her eyes on court, she replied curtly, "Because it was a hard match".

Raced into an early lead against an unusually erratic Osaka, who had won 24 of her previous 28 games.

"I'm just happy to have reached 30 today, I'm going to enjoy that", said Wozniacki, a former number one.

"I feel great being here".

Sevastova retired from tennis in May 2013 and studied leisure management instead after becoming frustrated by injuries.

In the men's Beijing Open, top seed Juan Martin del Potro progressed to the final by walkover against Italy's Fabio Fognini.

The German spit out 31 unforced errors to 16 for her opponent, who notched 6 aces and 93 percent of her first service points overall to seal the win in just over one hour.

Fognini withdrew from the semi-final because of ankle pain.
