The US Senate has voted to confirm President Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, after weeks of rancorous debate.
Their support makes Saturday's vote to confirm Kavanaugh an apparent formality after a battle that riveted the nation for almost a month.
Political strategists in both parties suggest the GOP's enthusiastic embrace of Kavanaugh despite the allegations may have shifted the political landscape - at least temporarily - by injecting new energy into the most passionate Republican voters a month before the election.
Ahead of the vote, hundreds of people protesting against Mr Kavanaugh's nomination demonstrated at the US Capitol in Washington.
The crowds outside the court have been chanting "Vote them out!" But as soon as Pence motioned to proceed with the vote, protesters began yelling.
Their backing gave him the 51 votes necessary for confirmation, with the Senate expected to vote to confirm him on Saturday afternoon. "May God be with you and guide you always", one user wrote. "Keep it up, because it's going to make America stronger".
It has been speculated that the court will vote in favour of Brett Kavanaugh which will take place Saturday at 3.30pm local time.
After the vote, the president called Kavanaugh to congratulate him, the White House said in a statement.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer contended that Kavanaugh was unfit to serve, maintaining that he would work to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Throughout the day, Trump also kept his focus on the opposition, saying Kavanaugh had withstood a "horrible, terrible attack" that "nobody should have to go through".
"Senators claiming to want a dignified debate should not repeat lies constructed by the Judiciary Committee that were cynically created to win support for Judge Kavanaugh".
Friday morning began with uncertainty over whether Senate Republicans had the support necessary to push the nomination across the finish line, but the day ended with confirmation all but assured after Republican Sen. Meanwhile, Manchin was getting a lot of pats on the back from Republican Sens.
Sen. Jeff Flake, a retiring senator and frequent thorn in the side of Trump, achieved a delay long enough for an FBI to reopen its background investigation of the nominee.
The announcements Friday by Republican Susan Collins of ME and Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia came after weeks of shocking accusations, hardball politics and Capitol protests.
Beyond the sexual misconduct allegations, Democrats raised questions about Kavanaugh's temperament and impartiality after he delivered defiant, emotional testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee where he denounced their party. "But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out and I never sexually assaulted anyone".
In a statement to Politico in September, Bush said: "Laura and I have known and respected Brett Kavanaugh for decades, and we stand by our comments the night Judge Kavanaugh was nominated: "He is a fine husband, father, and friend - and a man of the highest integrity".
But the president had harsh words for Murkowski, the lone Republican senator who couldn't get to 'yes'. Neither Ford nor Kavanaugh appeared. The vote came the day after a fascinating and horrifying testimonies by both Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford before the committee.
'It was very hurtful, as it would be to any woman, any survivor who had the courage to come forward only to be mocked and belittled by anyone, really, but certainly by the President of the United States. "I'm a 100%. I have no doubt", he said.
Lisa Murkowski, the only Republican to oppose the nominee, voted "present", offsetting the absence of Kavanaugh supporterSteve Daines. The move did not impact the overall outcome of the vote, but it allowed for the margin to be the same as it would have been if Daines had been there to participate and prevented a situation where Daines would have to fly back Saturday to cast a vote to ensure the result.
Mahrez said: 'We were very strong defensively. "Last season we lost here, and this season we drew, maybe next season we will win". And asked if he slowed the game down as a tactic, he admitted: "Yeah, if you play so quick they are much better than us".
