Nintendo Switch Online Members Can Get NES Controllers And Splatoon 2 Gear

Nintendo is rolling out its Switch Online service next week Nintendo Direct Rescheduled, Switch Online Launches September 18
Melba Vasquez | 14 September, 2018, 13:41

The much anticipated online gaming service for the popular Nintendo Switch has a start date: September 18. Super Mario Bros. and forthcoming Excitebike and Ice Climber games. Level up with a Nintendo Switch Online membership! Plus, you can enhance your online experience with features available through the smartphone app and receive special offers.

The Splatoon 2 in-game gear is a free download code for people who purchase a 12-month Nintendo Switch individual or family membership.

Nintendo has been drip-feeding details about the service for months, starting with confirmation that subscribers will have access to classic NES games with additional modern features such as online play and voice chat. It's certainly an interesting tactic but one that is not entirely new, since for years now, Nintendo has been rewarding its loyal customers with exclusives through alternate rewards programs.

"Friends can even watch each other play single-player games online, and "pass the controller" at any time".

While UK pricing hasn't yet been confirmed, we know how much it'll cost in the US.

Nintendo revealed earlier today that their online service is going to launch on September 18th. You will only be able to unlink a user account from a Nintendo Account until 8 p.m. ET on Sep.
