"All those top-10 finishes, the play in big championships and majors, and his current form, a second, a fourth and an eighth in the [FedEx Cup] play-offs". Finau will join Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau on the team, who were the other three captain's picks that were announced last week.

The U.S. roster for the tournament, which will take place September 28-30 outside Paris, was determined by automatic qualifiers based off rankings after the PGA Championship.

They have not won successive Ryder Cups since 1993.

"I'm so excited to be on the Ryder Cup team", Finau said.

Finau boosted his chances by joining a group that played at Le Golf National earlier this year.

"I've still got goosebumps", Finau said after tying for eighth at the BMW Championship and receiving a phone call from the U.S. Captain. "I also played on two Junior Ryder Cup teams". Throw in Woods and Mickelson, and that gives the USA team a lineup that has combined for 31 majors. "And I'm playing some good golf, some world-class golf". And I let the guys on the team know that I'd be a great pick and I'd be ready to go.

And that pick seems to be one of the toughest, coming down to either Tony Finau or Xander Schauffele.

Keegan Bradley, who beat Justin Rose in a playoff to win the tournament, did not make the team. The 28-year-old was on Monday night confirmed as America's final wildcard for this month's Ryder Cup. He turned professional right out of high school in 2007, but it took him seven years to earn his PGA Tour card. Finau's mother, Ravena, who would drive Tony to junior tournaments, was killed in an auto accident in 2011.

"I look forward to the opportunity to help the U.S. bring the Cup back".
