Omarosa Manigault Newman, the fired White House aide seeking publicity for her new memoir about her time in the Trump administration, said in an interview Sunday that the way Chief of Staff John F. Kelly dismissed her involved a "threat" and shared an audio recording of Kelly she said she made in the Situation Room.

Manigault Newman said she didn't know whether the president was as genuinely surprised by her firing as he appeared to sound on the tape but also said it should be alarming to Americans if the president truly didn't know whether his chief of staff is ousting a top member of the White House without first informing him.

After Omarosa claimed there are recordings of Donald Trump using racist slurs, the president fired back by insulting her intelligence and saying she "begged" him for a job!

"It is hindsight. But I will say this to you, I was complicit with this White House deceiving this nation", she said.

"No ... I, I, Nobody even told me about it", the president responds.

"You know, they run a big operation, but I didn't know it", Trump was recorded as saying. After Kelly let her go, she reportedly tried, unsuccessfully, to reach Trump directly to issue a personal appeal, setting off a secret-service alarm in the process. "What happened?" Trump asked on the recording. She claims to have heard from someone who heard from me that I heard Trump use the N-word.

But national security experts say recording a conversation in the Situation Room, though unbeknownst to Kelly at the time, constitutes exactly the sort of integrity violation of which she was accused - and worse, it was a potential security breach in a room that's meant to be one of the most locked-down in Washington. She shared audio with the Today Show on Monday.

In another claim, Manigault Newman said she had seen the president eat a note handed to him in the Oval Office by Trump lawyer Michael Cohen to prevent presidential archivists getting it.

"And then to brag about it on national television further proves the lack of character and integrity of this disgruntled former White House employee".

Parts of her of the recordings were aired on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday as Manigault Newman promoted her new book, Unhinged.

On Monday, she released a recorded conversation she says was with President Donald Trump after her firing.

But she said Trump has an issue with the truth and sometimes battles reality.

Her decision to make a secret tape inside the Situation Room, used by presidents to make top-level decisions on national security, was sharply condemned by Ms Sanders.

Like numerous assorted presidential hangers-on who populated the White House in the early days of Trump's administration, her responsibilities there were never entirely clear.

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani fumed Monday morning on "Fox & Friends" that Manigault Newman came off as arrogant. "Does the president, is the president aware of what's going on?" "And I think that Omarosa, unfortunately, has undercut her own credibility".

Trump tweeted that he would rather not take on this "lowlife" and recognizes it is "not presidential". She called it false imprisonment.
