Johnny Depp's Notorious BIG Movie Pulled A Month From Release

Johnny Depp's Notorious B.I.G. Movie Pulled A Month Before Release Notorious BIG & 2Pac Johnny Depp-Starring Flick Pulled From Theaters Ahead Of Release

The film, co-starring Forest Whitaker, follows Depp as an LAPD detective named Russell Pool as he attempts to investigate the still unsolved murder of B.I.G.in 1997, just six months after the death of his rival, Tupac Shakur.

Depp has faced a number of legal and financial woes, recently granting a wide-ranging interview to Rolling Stone that showcased the actor's decline.

While it's possible that the movie is simply being delayed at the last minute to hunt out a more strategic release window, it's also quite feasible that the movie won't see release in theaters at all, instead being shifted to a more low-profile streaming release, a la Netflix's The Cloverfield Paradox.

The film's producer Miriam Segal and director Brad Furman are also named in Greg "Rocky" Brooks' lawsuit, as Brooks claims he was sacked after refusing to say he wouldn't sue over the Depp incident.

The film was hit with controversy after location manager Gregg "Rocky" Brooks sued Depp for assault and battery on the set in April 2017. Whittaker plays journalist Jack Johnson, who joins forces with Poole to solve the murder.

In July, a crew member of the film issued a lawsuit against Depp for allegedly screaming obscenities, punching him in the ribs, then offering him money to punch him back - the crew member claimed he was subsequently fired over the incident because he refused to agree not to sue Depp.

"In spite of fans voicing their concerns online about his presence in the movie after allegations of physically abusive behavior involving ex-wife Amber Heard emerged, the actor received applause and cheers from the Hall H crowd", says THR.

Depp is set to star in the upcoming movie, Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald, written by J.K. Rowling.
