IL celebrates first official 'Barack Obama Day'

Biden shares selfie to wish 'brother' Obama a happy birthday Twitter Joe Biden

Maybe Barack Obama should eat a few extra almonds tonight.

From political leaders and doctors to activists and celebrities, the social media platform erupted with kind, uplifting words for the 44th United States president on the day he turned 57 years old. As noted by the sfgate.com, during his time in office, he signed many landmark bills into law, including the Affordable Care Act.

Nancy Pelosi wrote: "Happy birthday, President @BarackObama!". The bill was signed into law on August 6, 2017, making this year the first time it's actually celebrated.

The "birth certificate" reference in the fake Obama tweet was also a callback to Trump's longtime promotion of the "birther" conspiracy theory, which claimed that Obama was not born in the USA and consequently ineligible to be president. Last year, law makers in IL unanimously passed a measure that established August 4 as a state holiday in honor of Obama, who began his political career in Chicago as a community organizer before becoming a state senator and then a US senator from IL.

"It's incredibly proud for IL that the president came from IL".

Former VP Biden also shared a selfie of the two together from earlier this week, captioning the shot: "Our lunches together were a highlight of every week at the White House". Saturday also happens to be his 57th birthday. "Last week's trip to Dog Tag Bakery was no different".
