Universal Pictures has taken the Chris Pratt-led tentpole, "Cowboy Ninja Viking", off its schedule and undated the movie, which was previously set to release on June 28, 2019.

Something's very wrong with Cowboy Ninja Viking.

Pratt is coming off the success of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. And he's part of the Marvel family, leading the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Cowboy Ninja Viking was originally slated for a June 2019 release date, but Collider's report also states that "the studio wasn't eager to rush to meet that release date" because "it has franchise hopes for the property". This meant shooting would need to start soon. As for Chopra, her future with the film remains unclear. Still listed as being in "active development", there's no word yet on if and when the adaptation will get off the ground again - or even what caused the problem in the first place. This new release date will serve to accommodate the production schedule that is in place.

The film had cast Pratt as Duncan, an assassin able to channel the fighting skills of a cowboy, ninja and Viking after a bout of shadowy government psychiatric conditioning. The movie will be action heavy, while still aiming for a PG-13 rating.

The Image Comics graphic novel is by AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. MacLaren is getting her feature directing assignment on a huge project, this after directing episodes of Game of Thrones, Westworld, The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul. It was adapted by Dan Mazeau ("Wrath of the Titans") and Ryan Engle ("The Commuter"). Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner and Mark Gordon are attached to produce. Together they wrote in Gunn's defense, though the likelihood of Disney going back on its decision remains low.
