Last Man Standing Tim Allen Defense Roseanne Barr: That's Not the Roseanne I Know

Last Man Standing is losing a couple familiar faces in the transition from ABC to Fox, but it sounds like the show will gain a new one.

"I think the [Mike's] kind of a socialist", Allen said later in the day during Last Man Standing's official panel. And, he acknowledged, the success of Roseanne reminded them family comedy with a "strong central character" plays well in the "middle of the country" which he called a "pretty powerful show to have". "I think it was a financial decision on ABC's part". "That could change during the season, but there are no plans at this time..."

But Tim Allen, who is also getting a second chance with his show "Last Man Standing", which was cancelled by ABC despite high ratings and picked up by Fox.

So when are we going to get answers to these questions? "Whatever's good for his business and good for the state of Colorado, the policies and stuff, he's going to go with [that]", he said. "It's a very icy time", he said.

The final season of "Last Man Standing" averaged almost 6 million weekly viewers, more than some other ABC series that were brought back, including "black-ish", "Shark Tank" and "The Goldbergs". "I don't really believe it was a political decision", Allen said.

In fact, Allen reveals that he and the Last Man writing staff were actually disappointed when Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in the 2016 election... because they had so much material saved up.

The "Last Man Standing" star answered, "I go way back with Rosie and that's not the Rosie I know".

ABC terminated Barr from the smash-hit revival of Roseanne after she tweeted a racially charged remark, in which she compared former senior Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to an ape. "My whole thing with ABC, I've worked with ABC for years". The comedy, which had a solid fan base, was canceled by ABC in 2017. But this year while axing New Girl and completely restructuring its live-action comedy lineup, Fox made the surprising move of picking up the newly dead series for a seventh season.

It looks like Allen has a lot to thank Roseanne for in fact. Fans clamoured for more, and Fox announced its decision last May to revive the show produced by sibling 20th Century Fox Television.

The show will return on FOX on September 28th at 8 PM ET/PT.
