SpaceX has successfully launched the next ten low-earth-orbit satellites for Iridium Communications.

The event, broadcast live from SpaceX's webcast page, was the firm' s second launch of the week, after another Falcon 9 rocket departure from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Sunday saw the Telstar 19 VANTAGE satellite carried into orbit.

It was the seventh launch in Iridium's $3 billion campaign to replace its entire fleet of globe-circling satellites and brought the number in orbit to 65. "Despite the hard weather conditions, the first stage-upper stage of the Falcon 9 landed", - stated in the message. The Galileo satellites provide global-positioning services across Europe, and Wednesday's launch should complete the network.

"This historic constellation refresh is one launch away from completion", said Matt Desch, chief executive at Iridium.

The 10 Iridium satellites will join the dozens of Iridium satellites in space. "They did see the payload fairing coming down, but they were not able to catch it in the net".

The Iridium satellites were deployed approximately an hour after launch. The Company has based these statements on its current expectations and the information now available to us. It is as well the second last mission of the eight planned missions for the Iridium satellites.

The still-in-development Ariane 6 will be meant to compete with SpaceX's cheaper reusable launch systems, though it is likely that by the time it debuts the latter company will have significantly bypassed it on cost savings. If one or more of these risks or uncertainties materialize, or if Iridium's underlying assumptions prove incorrect, actual results may vary materially from those expected, estimated or projected.
