"Do not eat any Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal, regardless of package size or best-by date", it said.

At least 30 of the 100 have been hospitalised, while no deaths have been reported, the CDC said. "The FDA has learned that some retailers are still selling this product".

In June, Kellogg said it was investigating the third-party manufacturer that produces Honey Smacks after it was contacted by the FDA and CDC about the illness.

The FDA said on Thursday it would follow up with retailers to prevent the sale of the product. "Additionally, the public is urged to report any product being offered for sale to the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator in their region". Though the official recall notice covers boxes with a date from June 2018 to June 2019, federal health officials now say consumers shouldn't bother checking dates or sizes and just avoid all boxes.
