The US President touched down in London Stansted Airport, Essex, at 1.50pm BST with his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, after arriving from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

Mr Trump will then travel to Windsor Castle to meet the Queen before heading to Scotland for the private part of his four-day visit.

Such comments are likely to be seen as unwelcome by Mrs May, who has already faced significant political criticism for hosting Mr Trump.

More than 50,000 people have signed up to demonstrate in London on Friday when protesters intend to fly a large balloon over parliament portraying Trump as an orange, snarling baby.

"The president of the United States of America will regretfully have the red carpet rolled out for him by this Conservative government", Ian Blackford, the Scottish National Party's leader in the Westminster parliament, told lawmakers on Wednesday. "Are you honestly saying that the right to protest, the right to assemble, the right to free speech is limited by the ridicule it might cause to someone else?"

President Trump will arrive at a London airport on one of his two specially modified Boeing 747-200s.

Despite the welcome from May, many Britons are opposed to Trump's visit.

"We are at a very key point in history right now, and we need to take a stand".

Trump will also bring a number of presidential helicopters on overseas trips, either VH-3D Sea Kings or VH-60N White Hawks - which are known as Marine One when the president is on board. Permission for the float was issued by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who has exchanged back-and-forth criticism with Trump. There was no vote and no ban was imposed.

Demonstrators will gather near Chequers where Theresa May and Donald Trump will hold a lunch.

It noted that numerous demonstrations are being planned for July 12 to 14, surrounding the visit of the President.

President Trump is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Theresa May, who wants a post-Brexit trade deal, days after President Trump said the United Kingdom was in "turmoil".

The US Embassy has warned American citizens to keep a low profile during the visit in case protests turn violent.

Similar protests are planned on Thursday evening outside the USA ambassador's home at Regent's Park and in Scotland when Mr Trump visits on Saturday.
