Cabinet ministers rallied round Theresa May at today's cabinet meeting as Brexiteers said they were plotting a "guerrilla" campaign to force her to abandon her Brexit compromise.

Aldridge-Brownhills MP Wendy Morton said: "The Prime Minister is showing the same level of resilience that she always does". Sky Sources confirmed that Johnson repeatedly used the phrase at the away day at Chequers, the prime minister's country retreat.

Johnson's resignation came shortly after David Davis, who served as the secretary for the Britain's exit from the European Union, stepped down from his post.

May said that was the "only way to avoid a hard border" between the U.K.'s Northern Ireland and European Union member Ireland.

Britain and the European Union hope to reach broad agreement by October so the national parliaments of the remaining countries can ratify a deal before Britain leaves.

In case you missed it, Davis resigned late on Sunday night in protest at the prime minister's vision for Brexit which keeps more ties to Europe than he would prefer.

Ultimately, the type of Brexit they want - a clean, hard Brexit in which the United Kingdom moves far away from the EU's single market and customs union - simply doesn't have the support of a majority of MPs in the House of Commons.

Fallon warned Conservative rebels that a challenge to May's leadership is "the last thing we need". "It requires them to think again and look beyond the positions they have taken so far and agree a fair balance of rights and obligations".

The two resignations have left May badly exposed and raised questions over whether she will stand firm in her commitment to pursuing a "business-friendly" Brexit, or will be faced with more resignations and calls to quit herself.

"I want to see more detail from the Chequers agreement, but I feel reassured that the main issues have been addressed and delivered, including free movement of people".

Mr Hunt's promotion comes just weeks after he secured a £20billion a year funding boost for the NHS from the PM to mark the health service's 70th birthday.

"I'd have to deliver this".

Asked if May's weakened position put negotiations at risk, Barnier said: "To be honest, I don't want to make any comment on domestic and national policy in the UK. Others don't have that same responsibility". "This mess is all of the Prime Ministers own making", opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn told lawmakers.

Tory MPs can trigger a vote of no confidence if 48 of them submit letters to the 1922 backbencher committee, chaired by Sir Graham Brady.

"Friday's announcement was turning red lines into a white flag, and David Davis has made that so clear in his resignation letter", Rees-Mogg said.
