Barcelona’s Paulinho returns to China's Guangzhou

Brazil midfielder Paulinho is leaving Barcelona after one season to rejoin Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, the Spanish champions said on Sunday.

Paulinho rejoins manager Fabio Cannavaro and his Guangzhou side, who now sit in 5th position after 11 games in the Chinese Super League.

Remember Paulinho? The guy who was rubbish at Tottenham and so went to China for a bit, only to be signed by Barcelona and prove he was actually quite good after all?

Paulinho has asked for a 14m euro contract for the next four years, which adds up to 28m euros in losses for the Chinese club.

Colombia's Yerry Mina is another player whose future appears uncertain at Camp Nou, with interest from Everton arising for the central defender.

The Brazilian global leaves Camp Nou in a shocking one year loan with an option to buy, which can be triggered at the turn of next year.

He moved to Spain in 2017 for a reported €40m, meaning that Barcelona will make a tidy profit on the deal.

He has also won a Copa Libertadores and Club World Cup title with Brazilian club Corinthians.

"I chose to return to the Super League this time, hoping to bring more championships to Guangzhou and Guangzhou fans".

However, the absence of Paulinho next season could prove to be a huge blow for Ernesto Valverde's men. It is understood that Barcelona have a deal in place for the Gremio midfielder, who is a promising talent and can strengthen their creative unit. The move for Arthur would be complemented by Yerry Mina's departure in order to comply to the La Liga registration rules.
