Serena Williams wins at Wimbledon in return to All England Club

Back in 2011, there was the freakish situation of Williams hiding in her panic room when testers arrived at her LA mansion, dialling 911 as she believed them to be intruders.

Serena Williams is responding to a report that she is being drug-tested more than any other USA women and men in tennis.

No athlete is obliged to comply with a testing visit if it is not made during the 60-minute window for which the athlete identifies their whereabouts in advance each day. I'm completely so far away.' I guess they decided it was a missed test, which really doesn't make sense. I thought, 'Wow. I literally didn't know that'.

"You only get three missed tests".

'I think it varies from place to place that you spend your time in.

"It's really disappointing, shocking". "I don't go out there expecting to "do well" or 'see what happens.' That's just not me".

The incident was made public after WTA chief Steve Simon was overheard leaving a message on Williams' answerphone at an airport.

The Williams siblings aren't playing doubles in this tournament, the way they did at Roland Garros, and that's a good thing for Mum: It gives her more time with her child. "I got the early break in each set and then was able to bring it home". "When I saw it, I actually learned from it".

"I do know I'm always tested, I'm always getting tested, all the time". "Until I read that article I didn't realize it was such a discrepancy with me as well as against the other players that they listed, at least the American players - both male and female".

"But I'm very excited to see her attempt an incredible comeback".

In her return to Wimbledon Monday morning at the All England Club, Serena Williams defeated Russian Arantxa Rus 7-5, 6-3, in an unexpectedly tight matchup.

The 36-year-old said she was tested five times on June, compared to one or none from some of her compatriots.

"I don't at all feel that way". I think he was mentioned, as well.

USADA confirmed this week that Williams had passed all five tests.

'I don't believe there's ever going to be enough testing. I'm okay with that.

But the statistics don't back up those claims, which would amount to more than 100 tests a year. That's all I care about.

"I despise having people in our sport that aren't being honest".

"I'm totally OK with testing and I encourage it", Williams said.

Day one at the grass-court grand slam tournament featured some mild surprises, such as US Open champion and French Open runner-up Sloane Stephens' third first-round exit in the past five majors, and losses by No 5 Elina Svitolina and No 6 Grigor Dimitrov (to three-time major champion Stan Wawrinka). She's not opposed to drug testing, but said: "Just test everyone equally".
