Wide depth of talent but can Didier Deschamps' France deliver?

International Friendly- France vs USA Wide depth of talent but can Didier Deschamps' France deliver?

He made 25 Premier League starts for United last season and still has his critics following an £89million move from Juventus in 2016 but, when asked, Deschamps told France TV broadcaster Telefoot it is "very likely" Pogba will start next weekend.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba is nearly certain to start France's World Cup opener against Australia, boss Didier Deschamps has confirmed.

The France global was criticised for his performances last season and was publicly called out for his displays several times by boss Jose Mourinho.

They will get their campaign underway on June 16 against Australia.

It's a known fact that Pogba -one of the world's most enigmatic players- functions best in a three-man midfield and struggles in a double pivot, hence Corentin Tolisso's inclusion.

Kante is certainly capable of this, but he'll have a lot of defensive slack on his plate in this system. Everyone knows about his extraordinary potential but I think we're asking too much of him.

With a similar, but more accurate, passing range and better ability to retain the ball under pressure, Tolisso is perhaps the more trustworthy midfield option for counter-attacking football, certainly in a two-man pivot..

"He is very talented, naturally gifted, but he is a holding midfielder player".

"Don't take any of Olivier's quality away from him".

The 1998 World Cup victor is looking for more of that in Russian Federation this summer, telling Paddy Power: "We all know Pogba has great potential but I want to see the same Pogba I saw against Manchester City when United won 3-2".
