Santa Monica police confirmed to USA entertainment website Deadline that the complaint was made by a woman who in November 2017 said she meant to file a police report over an alleged sexual assault in the 1990s. The first involves the rape allegation from 1990, and a source close to the investigation said that this is the case being reviewed by prosecutors.

A representative for Stallone did not immediately return a request for comment. Stallone's spokesperson denied the allegation on the actor's behalf at the time. Singer also announced that the actor was contemplating pursing charges against the woman - for filing a false police report.

He acknowledged that Stallone had a relationship with the alleged victim while shooting a movie in Israel in 1987 while he was single.

The #MeToo campaign took off a year ago following sexual assault allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Stallone's rep called the Las Vegas allegation "a ridiculous, categorically false story". "At no time was Mr. Stallone ever contacted by authorities or anyone else regarding this matter".
