DUBLIN: New Zealand´s Amelia Kerr hit a world record 232 not out in the third one-day global against Ireland on Wednesday and then took five wickets to complete a remarkable day for the 17-year-old.

New Zealand's Amelia Kerr created history on Wednesday when broke a record that was set even before she was born, scoring a double hundred against Ireland at Dublin.

Seventeen-year-old White Ferns star Amelia Kerr had no idea about the records she was breaking in her monumental unbeaten 232 against Ireland this morning. Her 232 off 145 is the highest induvial score in women's ODI and she thus broke the 21-year-old record held by Belinda Clarke of Australia.

The Australian was the first person to score a double hundred in ODI cricket when she amassed 229 against Denmark in Mumbai in 1997.

The Wellington-born player hit 31 fours and two sixes in her 145-ball innings to top the 229 not out Australia's Belinda Clark amassed against Denmark in Mumbai in 1997 - nearly three years before Kerr was born. At 17 years & 243 days, Kerr also became the youngest double-centurion in worldwide cricket - men and women included.

Kerr then took a five-wicket haul (5/17) as Ireland were bowled out for 135 to hand New Zealand a massive 305-run victory.

"New Zealand, who posted a world record for men and women when they scored 490 for four in the first one-day global, now head to England for a triangular Twenty20 series with the hosts and South Africa".

Kerr is now the second women and seventh overall cricketer to go past the 200-run mark in one-day worldwide cricket.
