Uber patents AI that can tell if you’re drunk or exhausted

Uber сможет распознавать пьяных пассажиров Uber turns to A.I. to identify drunk riders

The content of the filing suggests that the popular transport app that connects drivers with passengers wants to implement a system that would try to determine a user's state upon requesting an Uber and reference it against prior behavior or characteristics.

Uber will also potentially modify "pickup or drop-off locations to areas that are well lit and easy to access" when it has determined the user's state is "unusual".

To do this, the system would track how you normally use the Uber app - including your speed of typing, number of typos, how you tap the buttons, and the way the phone is being held.

CNN uncovered the patent, called "Predicting user state using machine learning".

The ridesharing giant has explored identifying drunk passengers with artificial intelligence, according to a patent application published Thursday.

Given drunk people are not known to be the most lucid, sensible or even polite people, certainly here in the United Kingdom, the system could alert Uber drivers to the fact their upcoming customer is flying a few sheets to the wind.

The patent application also indicates that the Uber service may change based on the outcome of the data analysis.

Uber may be working on a new tool that can tell if its users have had a few too many drinks, according to a patent application filed by the ride-sharing company.

It is not known if the info will be used to deter drivers from picking up such passengers in order to sidestep potential trouble.

Uber is all set to introduce the new app that will alert passengers whether the driver is drunk or not.

Take a look at these Uber incidents below.

"From February 2016 to February 2017, there were 48 alleged sex attacks by Uber drivers reported to the police in London", says The New Statesman.

Uber claims that many drunk riders find difficulty in getting their home and meanwhile haphazardly book a taxi.
