After the historic summit today between USA president Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, there's one clear victor: China. The communist dictatorship has been condemned worldwide for the political prisons, assassinations and starvation in the country.
Alluding to the North's concerns that giving up its nuclear weapons could surrender its primary deterrent to forced regime change, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters that the US was prepared to take action to provide North Korea with "sufficient certainty" that denuclearization "is not something that ends badly for them". I really believe that. No question about it.
Trump trusts that Kim is willing to give up nuclear weapons in order to reintegrate his country and his people with the rest of the world and to kickstart North Korea's economy, which has always been plagued with sanctions and trade penalties. "So I think the rhetoric, I hated to do it, sometimes I felt foolish doing it, but we had no choice".
Setting out the U.S. position before the summit, Pompeo stressed that the Trump administration would only accept complete denuclearisation of the North. "I don't want to do war. Talking to dictators is one thing, embracing them is another", Biden blasted of the deal he said does not advantage the USA or make us safer.
Language on North Korea's bombs was similar to what the leaders of North and South Korea came up with at their own summit in April.
"He is very talented", Mr Trump said. "It's possible. We're dealing at a high level, a lot of things can change a lot of things are possible", Trump told him.
Trump said the video was meant to illustrate the bright future that might be ahead, if Kim agrees to denuclearize.
Biden says the agreement reduces the United States' leverage in return for vague promises to begin nuclear negotiations, calling it "the same kind of promises that the North Korean regime has made to American presidents of both parties in the past-and broken repeatedly".
"It is responsible for the starvation deaths of millions of North Koreans, and for the imprisonment, torture, killing and oppression of countless more". Then the film progressed from grim black-and-white shots of the United States' 1950s-era war with North Korea into a colourful montage of parades and a golden sunrise.
"I think they are one of the great winners today", he said. "I'm not trying to unify South Korea and North Korea".
Speaking in Geneva, Mr Ojea Quintana said that avoiding discussing the camps to focus on the nuclear program would send "the wrong message". "I don't say he was nice". About eight of their representatives were watching it, and I thought they were fascinated by it.
"My call is for an amnesty, a general amnesty that includes these prisoners and it is a concrete call". "Donald Trump should take a lot of credit because he went out of the box and made this happen".
"Something happened from that day, was a awful thing". It's going to start very quickly.
Former negotiator for Warmbier, Mickey Bergman, told the ABC's The World program that there is some truth in the comments from Mr Trump.
"It was a very emotional day yesterday", Mr Bergman said.
While the discussions between the two leaders were no doubt serious, people have also been talking about a joke from the President that seemed to fall flat on its feet. "If the U.S. can agree to the three things, they would be willing for a conversation", Rodman recalled.
After shaking hands, meeting one-on-one and in a group, and a working lunch with vanilla ice cream, the two leaders signed a document this afternoon asserting that Washington would provide "security guarantees" to Pyongyang in exchange for the rogue regime's "unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula".
