Trump calls De Niro 'very low IQ individual' for Tony Awards outburst

Hannah Rogers | 13 June, 2018, 03:19

Specifically, Trump hit back at actor Robert De Niro over his pretty succinct slam of Trump during Sunday night's Tony Awards.

Two days after De Niro's outburst on the stage of the Tony Awards ceremony in New York, Trump said he had watched the clip "and (I) truly believe he may be punch drunk".

Donald Trump issued a furious rebuke to Robert De Niro on Twitter this evening after a whirlwind 48 hours at the North Korea summit in Singapore.

In the catalog of nicknames Trump has bestowed upon his detractors, "Punchy" has to be his worst yet.

De Niro got a standing ovation from the audience. "It's no longer down with Trump, it's f-- Trump!"

Then on Monday, De Niro apologized to Canadians for Trump's insults after Trump called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "weak" and "dishonest".

".realize the economy is the best it's ever been with employment being at an all time high, and many companies pouring back into our country".

The rebuttal comes after the 74-year-old Goodfellas actor expressed his feelings towards Trump while introducing a performance by his pal Bruce Springsteen at the awards show.

He famously said he wanted to punch Trump "in the face" during the 2016 US Election, called him a "f***ing fool" and the "baby-in-chief" in January 2018, and the following month said the US was now suffering from a "case of temporary insanity". On Tuesday, De Niro apologized for "the idiotic behavior of my president" in a speech at the groundbreaking of a restaurant in Toronto, CNN reported.

"First, I wanna say, 'F-k Trump, '" De Niro said.
