Robert De Niro a very low IQ individual: Donald Trump

Hannah Rogers | 13 June, 2018, 15:40

Donald Trump, fresh from his global diplomacy with Kim Jong-un turned his fire on Robert De Niro on Tuesday, in retaliation for the actor's awards ceremony outburst.

De Niro delivered his latest anti-Trump comments while introducing Bruce Springsteen to the well-heeled audience there to see Broadway's best recognized.

De Niro, one of the most respected American actors, twice used the so-called F-Bomb against Trump on Sunday, prompting loud applause from the audience of theater actors, directors and producers at Radio City Music Hall.

A few hours prior to Trump's tweets Tuesday, De Niro made a public apology - but not to Trump.

Trump hit back at De Niro, whom he nicknamed "Punchy", using his preferred method of communication: Twitter. "I watched him last night and truly believe he may be "punch-drunk", Trump tweeted.

The Oscar-winning actor has starred in a number of boxing films, including Raging Bull, and he pulled no punches during the live television broadcast of Sunday night's Tony Awards.

The actor went on to say that as long as America's "leadership is so appalling and so corrupt" he'll be "speaking out at every turn". He likely spent some time after his meeting with Kim catching up on the news about him back in the United States. I guess he doesn't...

"First, I wanna say, 'f*** Trump, '" De Niro said in the bleeped telecast.

De Niro, a noted liberal, has been increasingly critical of Trump, a Republican, at smaller show business events in the past year, but none of them had the profile enjoyed by the Tony Awards. 'It's a disgrace. And I apologize to [Canadian Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau and the other people at the G-7.
