The dawn is about to rise on Eid Al-fitr but when does it begin exactly?

Abdulrahman Dambazau, (rtd), who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulated Muslim Faithfuls on the successful completion of the Ramadan and enjoined Nigerians at large to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity, prosperity and stability of the nation.

Eid ul-Fitr is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims all around the world.

The date for the start of any lunar Hijri month varies based on the observation of new moon by local religious authorities, so the exact day of celebration varies by locality. The countries will observe the new moon on Thursday.

It also has an extra six takbir (raising hands to ears while saying "Allahu Akbar" meaning "God is the greatest").

Muslims believe, therefore, that they are commanded by Allah as mentioned in the Quran to continue their fast until the last day of Ramadan and pay the Zakat-al-Fitr (tithes or almsgiving) before offering as well as celebrating the Eid.

What is Eid ul Adha?

The festivities of Eid begin only after the crescent moon is seen. Muslims across India will celebrate this grand festival on 14 and 15 June, 2018. It's Meethi Eid and its celebrations are characterised by getting together of family and friends, exchange of gifts and communal feasting on meat delicacies as well as deleectable desserts, which make an important part of the festival.
