Neymar's stunning World Cup warning in Brazil romp

Russia 2018 Neymar led Brazil thrash Austria in final warm up match Neymar's stunning World Cup warning in Brazil romp

Brazil concluded their final warm-up match before the World Cup in a convincing fashion as Gabriel Jesus, Neymar and Philippe Coutinho combined to ensure a 3-0 vanquish of Austria.

Set up by Willian in the 63rd minute, Neymar wrong-footed Austria defender Aleksandar Dragovic with a quick move and converted through the legs of goalkeeper Heinz Lindner for Brazil's second goal.

The Paris St Germain forward scored his 55th global goal to go level with Romario and sit joint-third in Brazil's all-time scoring charts during their impressive victory.

Brazil will play their opening World Cup game against Switzerland who has been in good form of late.

Neymar was on the scoring sheet as Brazil thrashed Austria 3-0 in a Federation Internationale de Football Association worldwide friendly in Vienna on Sunday.

Six minutes later, Selecao bagged a third goal as Coutinho played a neat one-two with Roberto Firmino before placing the ball beyond a helpless Lindner. "When we release him in the last third of the field, he's lethal". "The match (against Austria) and the performance will decide that".

Austria, who failed to qualify for Russian Federation and have not competed at a World Cup since 1998, failed to pose much of a threat, though West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic did go close in the first half.

But as the clock ticks down to the opener in Moscow's imposing 80,000-capacity Luzhniki stadium, the tournament is beginning to catch the public mood, with about 3,500 fans attending Australia's training session in the central city of Kazan. "I do not even know the limit of Neymar", Tite told reporters afterwards. Fred underwent further examinations in Vienna this weekend.

Tite said his team "can get a bit more effective but still have a week left to work on that".

The Paris Saint-Germain star made his first start for Brazil since November as he continues his comeback from foot surgery and was on the end of several fouls he did not seem to appreciate.

Tite's men will open their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on June 17 before taking on Costa Rica and Serbia.
